Chief Manuelito Scholarship

Submit your application now for the Chief Manuelito Scholarship. The Navajo Nation founded the Chief Manuelito Scholarship program in 1980. The scholarship honors Chief Manuelito, Hastiin Ch’ilhaajiin who is working in society to encourage young people to get their education and want to protect the people of the tribe. The students who have to apply for the scholarship have to fulfill the eligibility criteria for the Chief Manuelito Scholarship and then they are eligible for the reward of $7,000 per educational year to pay the educational expenses that they met when they are enrolled in education in a post-secondary institute. The students must have a 3.0 GPA and earn 12 or more credit hours depending upon the college-level graded courses.

High School Graduates – Eligibility

The candidates who have to apply for the scholarship and are enrolled in high school for their graduation degree are:

  • The students must have a high school graduate with an ACT and a GPA mentioned below:
    1. A high school graduate with a below 3.0 GPA in not eligible or an ACT score below 21
    2. A high school graduate with a 3.0 GPA must have a 29+ ACT score
    3. A high school graduate 3.1 GPA must have a 28+ ACT score
    4. A high school graduate 3.2 GPA must have a 27+ ACT score
    5. A high school graduate 3.3 GPA must have a 26+ ACT score
    6. A high school graduate 3.4 GPA must have a 25+ ACT score
    7. A high school graduate 3.5 GPA must have a 24+ ACT score
    8. A high school graduate 3.6 GPA must have a 23+ ACT score
    9. A high school graduate 3.7 GPA must have a 22+ ACT score
    10. A high school graduate 3.8 GPA must have a 21+ ACT score

Rule for Undergraduates – Eligibility

The candidates who have to apply for the undergraduate degree program are as follows:

  • The students must have completed their 24 semester college-level credit hours. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The students who apply for Associate of Applied Science, Bachelor of Applied Science, or Certificate are not eligible to submit their application for the scholarship.

Undergraduates Scholarships

Some of the available scholarships for undergraduate students are as follows:

Financial Need-Based Award – $2,500 per term

  • This scholarship is available for students who have to start their education and they are looking for financial assistance for their degree.
  • The students who belong to this category do have not many resources as they are unable to pay for their educational expenses and they need support for their education.

No Need-Based Award – $1,000 per term

The scholarship is available for students who have enough resources in which they are able to manage thier expenses and they need more money for thier tuition, books, and housing at a college of university of their choice.

Part-Time Undergraduate Award – Varies

The scholarship is available for students who are enrolled in part-time undergraduate studies. The scholarship requirements and awards may vary in this scholarship.

Graduates Scholarship

Graduate Award -$2,500 to $5,000 per term

  • The scholarship is available for students of Navajo who are enrolled in graduate-level degrees.
  • The students who enrolled in any of the one degree at the same level are eligible to apply such as a master’s degree, an education terminal degree, or a doctorate’s degree.
  • The candidates who are enrolled in university as Full-time graduates or post-graduates or earn nine or more semester credit hours and have a GPA of 3.00 or higher are eligible to apply.
  • Medical Veterinary and law students who are full-time graduate students are eligible to apply. The minimum GPA must be 2.00.

Part-Time Graduate Award – Varies

  • The scholarship is available for students who are enrolled in part-time undergraduate studies. The scholarship requirements and awards may vary in this scholarship.
