There is a list of scholarships announced by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Philippines:

  • The DOST Scholarship Program (DSP),
  • The Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM) Scholarship Program (STEP)
  • The Science Education Development Program (SEDP).

Type of Dost Scholarship

There are two types of Dost scholarships:  RA 7687 and merit scholarships.

  • RA 7687: the scholarship is offered as per the republic act 7687 which is also acknowledged as the science and technology act 1994. In this, the students who are financially weak and do have not many resources to get an education can apply for the scholarship.
  • Merit scholarship: merit scholarship is also acknowledged as NSDB or NSTA Scholarship. As per the republic, act 2067 the scholarship is given to the applicants on a merit base. Applicants who are brilliant in science and mathematics are eligible to apply for the scholarship and have a chance of getting the brilliant opportunity.

Eligibility Criteria

RA 7687 Scholarship Applicant must be a stable resident of the Philippines Candidates must belong to a family whose financial condition is not much better on the government-announced scale. Candidate should be a member of the Non-STEM component senior high school graduating class or STEM strand senior high school graduating class candidate must not have any post-secondary or undergraduate units Applicant must be passed S&T Scholarship Examination
Merit Scholarship Candidates must be a permanent residents of Philippines candidate should be a member of the Non-STEM strand senior high school graduating class or STEM strand senior high school graduating class candidate don not acquire any post-secondary or undergraduate units candidate must be cleared S&T Scholarship Examination
