Types of Swiss Government

  • The research scholarship is announced for the students who have to start their post-graduate research in any discipline (who hold a master’s degree as a minimum) and who are scheduled to come to Switzerland to start their research or further studies at the doctoral or post-doctoral level.

Eligibility Criteria:

The students who have followed the following eligibility criteria when they have to submit the application for a scholarship:

  •  The students must understand and speak the English language.
  • The scholarship is available for all international students,
  • The students must complete their master’s degree and they will get their transcript before 31 July.
  • Students have to verify their degree and they have to submit their degree to the Federal Commission for Scholarships.
  • Candidates must be born after 31 December 1987.
  • Students who are already in Switzerland for more than one year are not eligible to submit the application for the scholarship.
  • Applicants must have to submit their CVs with their application forms.
  • Students must have a research proposal.
  • The students must have a command of the English language and have IELTS or any other English language verification test.

Documents:

The students have to submit the following documents when they have to apply for the scholarship:

  1. Signed FCS application form (typed and printed) with
  2. A full CV with a list of academic publications, awards,
  3. A motivation letter (max. 2 pages).
  4. A complete research proposal (max. 5 pages, signed), using just the FCS research proposal
  5. A copy of the letter from an academic host professor (including her/his short CV) at the selected Swiss university verifying why she/he is volunteering to manage and subsidize the research.
  6. A short CV of the academic mentor from your home country.
  7. Two confidential letters of recommendation from two different professors in the candidate’s field.
  8. Photocopies of certificates and grade sheets from previously attended universities/colleges and diplomas with grades, starting with the most recent. If not in English, French, Italian or German with attested certified translations in English. You Do not have to submit the original certificates.
  9. Signed medical certificate (use only the FCS health certificate form).
  10. Two copies of the candidate’s passport. If you are Dual nationals add copies of both passports. Must have to submit the residence permit with the application form.
