Background of UN Young Leaders Training Program 2024
The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) was founded in 1963 as an independent institute in the United nation with the aim of providing and improving the work of the UN and its members.
UNITAR every year almost conducts 500 training sessions and they share different knowledge on the events with 50000 candidates around the globe. The applicants from the following join session such as diplomats, other government officials, non-governmental representatives, and other stakeholders.
With the UNITAR the Multilateral Diplomacy Programme Unit (MDPU) also provides a training session to find the needs of the international actors. MDPU provides a lot of domains such as training on the UN system and skills development.
Objectives of UN Young Leaders Training Program 2024
in the year 2024, they have counted that almost 1.8 million people are between the age of 10 and 24 which is a record-breaking number in human history this number will increase with the passage of time and it will become 1.9 billion in the year 2024.
Young people have different states of mind and they are always looking for something different. They connect the people together and partake in innovative ideas driving social progress and inspiring political initiatives. They are the managers of the change, assembling to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) so they can help the miserable people and the health of the planet.
UNITAR is here with another online training program for young people. The candidates who join the online session will have a chance to learn about the United Nations and get experience in different fields. The candidates will find the potential of what they can do and what is beyond their powers.
Content and Structure of UN Young Leaders Training Program 2024
The United Nations Young Leaders Online Training Program comprises a 4-week e-Learning course. The candidates can join the e-learning program on the UNITAR e-learning platform. The program has 4 different units and you must have to pay for your 4-6 hours of study in these units.
- Module 1: The United Nations
- Module 2: Conference Diplomacy
- Module 3: Negotiation Skills
- Module 4: Cosmopolitan Communication
In the course, there will be reading material and multimedia files and there will be a discussion board where the participants can exchange their viewpoints with others and UNITAR instructors. The UNITAR will start their 1.5 hours long webinars and young participants have to join them. The candidates must have Zoom and they can join the webinars on it. The following topics will be discussed in the meeting.
- Webinar A – The United Nations System
- Webinar B – Multilateral Conferences and Diplomacy
- Webinar C – Cosmopolitan Communication
- Webinar D – The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
With the above-mentioned webinars, there will be a 3.5-hour workshop per week. This workshop is for the leadership and they will focus on Geneva´s multilateral environment over and done with computer-generated directed visits through the UN Palais des Nations as well as the diplomatic district of Geneva. The candidates have to join the different online sessions for 5 hours per week.
